So another week is upon us, I have had a great week book wise. I hope you have too! It started with fantastic author event I attended in the city of Perth on Monday evening.Talented debut West Australian author Sam Carmody absolutely captivated me with his tales of getting his novel, The Windy Season published. After a great Q &A, I also got the opportunity to chat to Sam and get my book signed. I can’t wait to get into his novel. I have attached a few pictures from this event.
I have also had a productive week reading and reviewing books. I read three books, received a print book for review for The Reading Room and I also obtained an electronic book for review at the request of an author (my first one). In addition I was lucky to receive two giveaway prizes in the mail. This week I published two reviews. One for Beauty and Lace Book Club, The Art of Keeping Secrets by Rachael Johns. Which you can read here. I also published a review for Only Daughter by Anna Snoekstra, a debut Australian author writing in the domestic thriller genre. Author events are the best, especially when you get to really talk to an author and connect. I hope the book is great! And glad you had a good reading/ blogging week. Only Daughter looks very good and The Hand That Feeds You looks scary but good. 🙂

The Only Daughter was great, highly recommend. The Hand That Feeds You was a little scary but didn’t quite live up to its great opening.

I’ll check out your review of Only Daughter as I read that as well. Will also check out The Art of Keeping Secrets as I’m tempted but just not usually a fan of romance and don’t want to taint my reviews of the genre with my cynicism!

Hi Kathryn, thanks so much for stopping by earlier. Rachael Johns is an author who just keeps getting better. As much as I love her rural romances, I do like how she has turned to contemporary women’s life fiction.
I really enjoyed my author event thanks. I have another coming up next week – Graeme Simsion author of The Rosie Project. I can’t wait!

Hi Amanda, you certainly are lucky to have so many great author events in your area. As far as I know they’re pretty much nonexistent here in the Wollongong area. We did have one author talk (a fair while back) held by Fiona Palmer – she was amazing!
Great list of books, Amanda! What a great idea adding a little entry under each book, letting us know if it’s a win, personal buy, etc!.
‘Only Daughter’ post makes its way through my newsfeed quite a bit, the blurb sounds quite interesting and I also just read your review so it’s definitely one that’s going to be added to my TBR list as well as a couple of one’s you’ve listed above that sound like my type of read.

Hi Sue, lovely to hear from you on here. That’s a shame you don’t have more author events headed your way. I am very lucky living less than an hour from the city of Perth, we seem to have some great authors coming our way over the next couple of months. On Thursday I am off to see Graeme Simsion chat with Natasha Lester. I can’t wait. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Fiona Palmer, she was so welcoming we I met her too three years ago 🙂 I loved hearing her journey from writing to getting published, it was fascinating!
Last week’s book list was great – I like to keep track of where my incoming books are coming from, There seems more coming in than going out. Overfilled bookshelves!
I loved Only Daughter, it is a good one if you like thrillers. I love to support new Australian authors as you do too, this one was written by a debut Australian author.
The others I am hoping to get to read and review over the next fortnight as I am currently on school holidays. A break from teaching means I have some more reading time!
