It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date .This meme is a great opportunity for book bloggers to showcase their ‘book-ish’ habits for the week. It is a good forum to share books read in the past week, current reads and upcoming reads. It is also a fantastic way to connect with fellow bookworms and add some books to your reading wishlist. Thanks for hosting Book Date!

So another week is upon us, I have had a great week book wise. I hope you have too! It started with fantastic author event I attended in the city of Perth on Monday evening.Talented debut West Australian author Sam  Carmody absolutely captivated me with his tales of getting his novel, The Windy Season published. After a great Q &A, I also got the opportunity to chat to Sam and get my book signed. I can’t wait to get into his novel. I have attached a few pictures from this event.

I have also had a productive week reading and reviewing books. I read three books, received a print book for review for The Reading Room and I also obtained an electronic book for review at the request of an author (my first one). In addition I was lucky to receive two giveaway prizes in the mail. This week I published two reviews. One for Beauty and Lace Book Club, The Art of Keeping Secrets by Rachael Johns. Which you can read here. I also published a review for Only Daughter by Anna Snoekstra, a debut Australian author writing in the domestic thriller genre. If you are interested in my thoughts on this book, you can read my review here. I have a great selection of books to choose from to read this week. If you have taken the time to stop by my blog to read this post, or my reviews I thank you. If you have any thoughts on my books I would love to hear from you. Thank you and have a fantastic reading week! Mrs B 🙂

    1. Thank you for stopping by earlier Di. I agree what a great win the fence, I adore the cover. Author events are the best, we are lucky here in Perth to have a few great ones coming up.

I hope you are enjoying your books this week, have a good one!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by earlier Mareli. Thanks for commenting on my photos. I love attending author events when I get the chance. We have some great ones coming up in Perth. I agree the Windy Seaon is a very enticing title and the book too from the reading the author did on the night.
I highly recommend The Art of Keeping Secrets.
I hope your week is treating you well and happy reading!
      Amanda 🙂

    1. Hi Laurel, thanks for stopping by earlier. I loved Watching Edie, just working on writing my review, I’m hoping to have it up soon. The Hand That Feeds you started off as a great thriller but it lost a bit of momentum for me anyway. I would love to know your thoughts though.

I hope you are having a great week!
      Amanda 🙂

  2. Author events are the best, especially when you get to really talk to an author and connect. I hope the book is great! And glad you had a good reading/ blogging week. Only Daughter looks very good and The Hand That Feeds You looks scary but good. 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by earlier Greg. I do love author events, it is a great chance to interact with the author. I’m really looking forward to getting into The Windy Season.
The Only Daughter was great, highly recommend. The Hand That Feeds You was a little scary but didn’t quite live up to its great opening.
I hope you too have had a great blogging and reading week 🙂

  3. I’ll check out your review of Only Daughter as I read that as well. Will also check out The Art of Keeping Secrets as I’m tempted but just not usually a fan of romance and don’t want to taint my reviews of the genre with my cynicism!

Love author events but haven’t been to one for yonks!

    1. Hi Deb, thanks so much for stopping by earlier. I hope you enjoyed Only Daughter as much as I did. I love to discover new Australian authors, especially writing for the thriller genre. I do hope you put your cynicism aside for Rachael Johns, it is worth it!
I too love author events, Perth has some great ones coming up – my next one is Graeme Simsion!
Just read you review of Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil – so glald to hear it did not disappoint. I need to bump it up to the top of my TBR pile.

I hope the rest of your week has been great.

    1. Hi Kathryn, thanks so much for stopping by earlier. Rachael Johns is an author who just keeps getting better. As much as I love her rural romances, I do like how she has turned to contemporary women’s life fiction.
I really enjoyed my author event thanks. I have another coming up next week – Graeme Simsion author of The Rosie Project. I can’t wait!

    1. Thanks for stopping by earlier, I really do appreciate it. I have had a very bookish week, which is always a great feeling! I hope you manage to get to some author events, I love them myself. Such a great way to personally interact with the authors. I’m really looking forward to reading The Fence, it was a very lucky win! I’m hoping to get into it soon and post a review – watch this space!
I hope you have had a great week!

  4. Hi Amanda, you certainly are lucky to have so many great author events in your area. As far as I know they’re pretty much nonexistent here in the Wollongong area. We did have one author talk (a fair while back) held by Fiona Palmer – she was amazing!

Great list of books, Amanda! What a great idea adding a little entry under each book, letting us know if it’s a win, personal buy, etc!.

‘Only Daughter’ post makes its way through my newsfeed quite a bit, the blurb sounds quite interesting and I also just read your review so it’s definitely one that’s going to be added to my TBR list as well as a couple of one’s you’ve listed above that sound like my type of read.

    1. Hi Sue, lovely to hear from you on here. That’s a shame you don’t have more author events headed your way. I am very lucky living less than an hour from the city of Perth, we seem to have some great authors coming our way over the next couple of months. On Thursday I am off to see Graeme Simsion chat with Natasha Lester. I can’t wait. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Fiona Palmer, she was so welcoming we I met her too three years ago 🙂 I loved hearing her journey from writing to getting published, it was fascinating!
Last week’s book list was great – I like to keep track of where my incoming books are coming from, There seems more coming in than going out. Overfilled bookshelves!
I loved Only Daughter, it is a good one if you like thrillers. I love to support new Australian authors as you do too, this one was written by a debut Australian author.
The others I am hoping to get to read and review over the next fortnight as I am currently on school holidays. A break from teaching means I have some more reading time!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂
