A Tea Break with Mrs B: Mandy Magro

It is a pleasure to warmly welcome Mandy Magro back to my blog, Mrs B’s Book Reviews for A Tea Break with Mrs B, an author interview series. To help celebrate the release of Road to Rosalee we sat down for a chat. Thanks Mandy!

Hello Mandy. It is my pleasure to welcome you back to my blog, Mrs B’s Book Reviews. I greatly appreciate the time you have provided to answer a few questions. To begin, can I interest you in a vanilla latte again, or would you prefer another beverage?

Hi Mrs B, it’s so lovely to be catching up with you again. I think I might switch it up this time around, and have a chai tea, but how about I make one for you too?

(Mrs B, yes please Mandy that would be delightful! A strong English breakfast tea with lots of milk would be perfect! Thank you).

What writing and publishing highlights have you experienced this year?

Being signed for a contemporary novel has been a dream of mine for years, and this year, it became a reality. One More Time is going to be hitting shelves in 2023, and I can’t wait to bring the sweeping romance, spanning over two alternate lifetimes, to my readers. I’ve also found representation in the film/tv industry, by a renowned Australia producer who lives in Canada. She’s kicking down doors for me, and moving mountains I’ve been trying futilely to climb, so watch this space. 😉

Can you describe your new novel, Road to Rosalee in a sentence?

A poignant story of a search for belonging, love and healing, set in the beautiful expanse of the Australian outback.

How does you new book, Road to Rosalee, connect to the other books in this series?

I can’t say too much as it will give the surprise away – but I will tell you the heroine has strong ties to one of the characters in the previous stories.

Are the characters in Road to Rosalee inspired by any real-life figures?

They are snippets of the people I have met along my journeys into the outback.

What is one thing you would like your audience to take away from the experience of reading Road to Rosalee?

I would love for my readers to have a big heart sigh when they reach the end, with a renewed faith in finding their very own happily ever after, if they haven’t already.

How will you celebrate the release of Road to Rosalee?

With a bottle of bubbly shared with my beautiful happily ever after, Des.

What ingredients are essential for a successful rural romance novel?

Strong leading characters who the readers can relate to, a bit of good old fashioned country fun along the way, a deep love born from a good dose of country soul-searching, and I also always like to have an unforgettable farm animal.

What does a typical writing day look like for you?

I always go for a run during the working week, after I’ve gotten Chloe off to school, to begin my day refreshed. It’s usually around 9.30 that I sit down and start to lose myself in my fictional world, and I typically go right through to school pick up time. I have an alarm set just in case I lose track of time, which is quite easy to do when I’m on a word roll.

What writers inspire you?

Nicholas Sparks, all the way!

What books are on your to-be-read pile?

To be completely honest, I’m enjoying recipe books at the moment, as I love to cook in my spare time. Anything with wholesome, healthy cooking, I can’t get enough of.

Are you currently writing a new book?

I have just finished penning Jillaroo from Jacaranda and am about to jump into edits for Back to the Country. Then, after a few deep breaths, I’m back into writing One More Time.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Mrs B’s Book Reviews Mandy and congratulations on the publication of Road to Rosalee.

Thank you for the lovely catch up.
