Juliette loves Nate.
She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight attendant for his airline, so she can keep a closer eye on him. They are meant to be.
The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing. Because Juliette has a plan to win him back.

She is the perfect girlfriend.
And she’ll make sure no one stops her from getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it’s worth all the pain…

Mrs R’s review:

The Perfect Girlfriend is Karen Hamilton’s debut thriller and what a debut it is! I have been reading quite a few thrillers this year and this is certainly the best for a few reasons.

Firstly, right from the start Karen begins to build the tension through the thoughts and actions of the main protagonist, Juliette. She says and does so many odd things all in the name of love that had me raising my eyebrows till they were permanently attached to my hairline! Juliette has many issues that stem from her childhood and have shaped her to be the adult she is today. Quite cleverly, Karen doesn’t reveal to the very end what happened in Juliette’s early life so the reader is left wondering just what went wrong in the whole way through. This was a great technique to keep me hooked.

Secondly, as I mentioned earlier I have read a few thrillers over the past few months and the one thing they all have in common is that I hated the characters. I disliked them to the point that I had difficulty finishing the book because I couldn’t relate to them or the choices they made in life. Juliette was certainly flawed but I think there was also underlying undiagnosed psychological issues so I couldn’t hate her. Her ex-boyfriend, Nate, is like everyone else and makes mistakes but he is unlucky in that they have come back to haunt him. Other minor characters were just like Nate but perceived through the eyes of Juliette, they were much worse than they actually were. So it was a nice change not to hate the characters in this genre and feel like I could enjoy this from beginning to end.

The last reason I enjoyed this read is because the twist at the end is absolutely brilliant. I thought I knew what was going to happen and when I discovered I was wrong I was shocked. Blown away. It’s a unique ending that left me wondering what would happen next….I would love there to be a sequel!

This is a ‘perfect’ book if you want something different from the usual happily ever afters!
