Welcome to another weekly round-up of my reading habits. I am on countdown as we only have two weeks left of our school term. It is a bittersweet time for me as a Teacher. I really look forward to school holidays as they are a welcome break from work, but I will have my own kids at home to entertain! I am looking forward to catching up on my reading stats over the school holidays. I have fallen a bit behind of my Goodreads challenge throughout the progression of this term. Do you participate in challenges such as the Goodreads/or other to keep your reading goals in check? I would be interested to know!
Here is my break down of my reading this week. I published just one review this week. It was a cracking British thriller/mystery, titled Local Girl Missing by Claire Douglas. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I loved the Ice Twins by Tremayne so immediately bought The Fire Child from the shops as soon as it was available. I am unsure if it is on Netgalley – sorry. I am old school and love print books! I hope you manage to get a copy. The Trap was a fast paced taut read. I am hoping to get a review up soon. I’m looking forward to getting into Keep You Close.

I think we have school holidays in NZ soon too. I used to relish them but not I don’t have to worry since retirement from the classroom. I hope you catch up your reading goal in the hols.

Only Daughter has a very interesting plot and is a little Anna Anderson. It looks like the perfect Fall read. Have a great week!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I am enjoying the Only Daughter so far. Yes I agree very Anna Anderson like. I loved that story as a young girl, it completely fascinated me! A perfect read for this time of year, it’s spring here in Australia but still very cold in the mornings/evenings. I hope you are having a great week too!

This is the first year I have not participated in the goodreads challenge… mostly because it was preventing me from picking up longer books. I started the year with a 1,000 page book, so my numbers are down, but I try not to think about it that way.
I’ve been on an Ian McEwan kick lately. Read The Children Act this summer and will start Amsterdam soon. I’ve heard a couple of people mention Enduring Love as their favorite McEwan novel. What did you think?

I have read and enjoyed a couple of Ian McEwan books – Atonement & On Chesil Beach. I love his style of prose, simple yet beautiful. Same could be said about Enduring Love but the story just didn’t do it for me this time. I found it hard going in places due to the scientific references in it. I hope you have better luck with it if you give it a go.I would like to read more Ian McEwan. The Children Act is on my TBR list 🙂

School holidays begin this Friday here in Victoria. Most of the state is water logged after all the recent rain (with more to come) so looks like a wet start to the holidays.
I’m behind on all the reading challenges I signed up for this year, including Goodreads, but there’s still lots of reading time until the end of the year.

Glad to hear your holidays are close, the eastern states are usually a week different to us in the west.Sorry to hear you have been water logged and have a wet start to the holidays, hopefully it clears up for the second week of the holidays.
I agree on your thoughts re the challenges. I am hoping to squeeze in some more reading time in the hols and we do have plenty more weeks to get on track until the end of the year.

Yes, I did enjoy Sweet Wattle Creek. Kaye Dobbie is one of my favourite authors. I’m looking forward to her new novel, MacKenzie Crossing, due for release later this year. I’ve also read her earlier novels written as Lilly Sommers.
